Mrs. Eddy makes the statement in our textbook, Science and Health (Pref., p. vii), "To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings." The blessings that are ours because we are taught in Christian Science to lean on "the sustaining infinite" are boundless. Daily opportunities to demonstrate the teachings of this Science arise, thereby enabling us to see the harmony of God's law in operation, expressed in the healing of all human ills.
One evening some boiling water was spilled on my foot. By studying the textbook with the aid of the Concordance to look up references particularly applicable to accidents, I was able to understand clearly that the real man can manifest only good, never a discordant condition of any kind. Within a short time I knew the healing work had been done despite material evidence to the contrary; so I retired, my consciousness filled with thoughts of God's tender love and constant protection. By morning the incident was forgotten; all material evidence was gone. Several times since, scalding liquids have been splashed on me or I have touched hot objects. By recalling the blessings of the healing mentioned above and realizing again the truth in the lesson it taught, I was able to heal the effects of these other incidents instantaneously.
Another healing for which I wish to express deep gratitude was the overcoming of severe periodic pains. Through the application of Christian Science, I was enabled to see my true identity as the child of God's creating, expressing health and harmony. Thus, the condition was healed, and I enjoy perfect freedom from it. Release from hay fever has been received, and colds have been overcome quickly through my recognizing God's allness and expressing gratitude for it.
