My first healing in Christian Science came when I was in my late teens and after I had attended Sunday School about one year. I was taken ill quite suddenly and could not stand up straight. My parents were very much alarmed at the symptoms. However, I asked for treatment in Christian Science, and a practitioner was called.
For two weeks I was not any better. I was not able to retain food or water, and I was unconscious much of this time. Then my father asked me to let him call a physician. However, he told me that he would abide by my decision, if I still wanted treatment in Christian Science. Though I was besieged with many arguments, the thought came to me: You have never tested Christian Science, and now you have the opportunity to see if it really works.
This still small voice won, and when I told my mother of this decision, she informed the practitioner. Immediately I was healed; I asked for food and went downstairs to join the family. When recounting this healing, I realized that I had also been healed of the need of wearing glasses simply by regular attendance at Sunday School.
