Testimonies of Healing

In Isaiah we read (43:2, 3): "When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee. For I am the Lord thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour." I am most grateful for a fuller understanding of the actual meaning of this text from the Bible, and it is through the teachings of Christian Science that I have gained this understanding.

When a friend and I were returning by car from a most enjoyable holiday at the home of other friends, a large car driven at a high rate of speed struck our car and turned it completely over. I well remember that we both said aloud "the scientific statement of being," given on page 468 of Science and Health by our Leader, Mrs. Eddy. We were taken to a hospital by an ambulance. However, within two hours we departed from the hospital without having had any treatment.

We returned to our friends whom we had left and were met with a great expression of love. A Christian Science practitioner was called and gave help, for which we are most grateful. Although we were both badly bruised and shaken, we had no open wounds, and in two days we were quite fit to make a train journey of about three hours to our home.

I feel great gratitude for the help my friend gave me all this time, because although she herself was hurt, she kept reminding me that this was our opportunity to prove that the power of Truth is omnipotent and that God is with us every minute. Christian Science treatment was continued, and the law of divine justice was held paramount in mind. Thought was directed to Paul's words (Col. 3:3), "Your life is hid with Christ in God." It was considered wise to refrain from talking about our experience, and we were greatly blessed by knowing that God's law is in operation all the time.

Our car was a total loss, but within a short time another one was supplied. Our bruises and strained muscles were completely healed, and fear of driving a car again was overcome. Also, we were both healed of resentment against the driver of the other car. This healing enabled us to be more receptive to Truth. I am grateful that we were able to fulfill our duties at church without any time lapse.

Our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, writes (Science and Health, p. 261), "Hold thought steadfastly to the enduring, the good, and the true, and you will bring these into your experience proportionably to their occupancy of your thoughts." The truth of this statement has been proved in our experience.

I have been healed of acute anemia; cysts on the underside of my eyelids disappeared in a few days; and sorrow at the passing of my parents was quickly overcome. I am most grateful for a happy home, for the privilege of being a member of The Mother Church and a branch church, and for class instruction.—

I wish to verify the foregoing testimony, since I was the friend mentioned in it. For the past twenty years Christian Science has been a great help to me in many ways.

I should like to express my gratitude for a healing that took place over ten years ago. From birth I had been handicapped by a condition in my legs, and there was a fear that walking would become more difficult as years passed by. My parents had sought the advice of a number of doctors, but none could give any lasting help. I thought that the only thing for me to do to gain relief was to pass on.

Then work in Christian Science was taken up, and I soon realized that even if I passed on I would still have the fear of the problem to get rid of. It was clear that I must prove the truth regarding myself. I was led to visit a Christian Science House, and a few days after my arrival I was taken to a Christian Science lecture. During the lecture it was clearly revealed to me that I was looking for something material to be healed; whereas God's child is always perfect. This thought stayed with me so strongly that during the night an adjustment in my legs took place, and I was healed. The next day I went for a lengthy walk, something I had not done for a long time, and I also went to church.

For the last ten years I have been able to lead a normal life and to express joy, love, harmony, and health. I am deeply grateful for the loving help that was given me by all the staff and nurses at the Christian Science House, as well as by the practitioner who worked for me. Also I am grateful for membership in The Mother Church and a branch church.—
