CHRISTIAN SCIENCE is based on the allness of God, Spirit, and the perfection of His spiritual creations, man and the universe. This truth of God and man is revealed by the Christ, now and forever expressing the nature of God. The fundamental facts of being necessarily involve the uncovering and destruction of everything that would claim another presence than that of God, good. The Christ is made manifest in human experience in the uncovering of error and in the demonstration of the present perfection of man in God's image and likeness. Moreover, the operation of the Christ is always compassionate and redemptive.
The Christ was demonstrated by Jesus more than nineteen centuries ago through the uncovering and destroying of all manner of evil. The Master denounced the supposed opposite of God, called devil or evil, as "a liar, and the father of it" (John 8:44), in other words, a self-constituted falsity or misconception of being. Christ Jesus uncovered and destroyed sin and its effects. His recognition of the truth of being and the purity of his own consciousness sufficed to reduce evil to its native nothingness. His uncovering of error was clearly illustrated in the case of the woman taken in adultery. The presence of the Christ, as demonstrated by Jesus, caused her self-righteous accusers to withdraw one by one, each pricked by his own conscience. Jesus said to the woman (John 8:11), "Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more."
Through the revelation of Christian Science the impersonal Christ, Truth, is found in all its completeness, bringing healing and blessing to the receptive thought, now as in Jesus' time. Thus the Christ is seen to be the uncovering and redemptive power of Truth at work in human consciousness in all ages.
