IN June, 1903, at the time of the Annual Meeting of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, Mary Baker Eddy invited all members to visit her home at Pleasant View, Concord, New Hampshire, to hear a message directly from her. This message, found in her book "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany" (pp.170, 171), is as heart-warming, forceful, and inspiring today as it was then. The loving-kindness, wisdom, and spirituality of thought our Leader so generously shared with her students are blessing and will continue to bless the receptive thought always.
In this address Mrs. Eddy said: "Beloved, some of you have come long distances to kneel with us in sacred silence in blest communion—unity of faith, understanding, prayer, and praise—and to return in joy, bearing your sheaves with you. In parting I repeat to these dear members of my church: Trust in Truth, and have no other trusts."
One who was privileged to hear this address told me that never would she forget the emphatic tone of authority with which Mrs. Eddy expressed these last words, "Trust in Truth, and have no other trusts." Many times in the years that followed, these words brought to her the strength and inspiration needed to rise above the problems of the hour. And how vigorously do these words remind us all today that trusting in Truth includes having no other trusts.
