FIRST-CENTURY Christians lived close to or within the era of the ministry of the master Christian, Christ Jesus. Christian Scientists today are living within the first century of the discovery of Christian Science and fewer than fifty years from the concluding years of the earthly mission of Mary Baker Eddy, its Discoverer and Founder.
Nothing was written of the mission of Jesus for many years after his earthly experience, word of mouth being the common form of communication, and Jesus himself wrote nothing. Today we not only have the record of those who lived and worked in Mrs. Eddy's presence, but we have volumes of her own writings, which irrevocably attest that the source of her inspirational revelation was the direct Word of God.
The Christian Science movement was established to perpetuate the healing laws of God as demonstrated by Christ Jesus. Jesus and the apostles were entrusted with a unique missionary work. Their examples of consecration and spirituality must be emulated by Christian Scientists so that they may give proofs that primitive Christianity is, indeed, again in our midst.
