THE divine law of healing is not something which belongs to the past. Being a divine provision, this law always has been, is now, and always will be in continual operation. Thus it bears the same relationship to us today as it did in Jesus' time. In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mary Baker Eddy writes (p. 463), "There is a law of God applicable to healing, and it is a spiritual law instead of material." In another of her important works, entitled "Miscellaneous Writings," she declares (p.172), "This law of God is the Science of mental healing, spiritually discerned, understood, and obeyed."
What a sense of security comes to one when, through the study of Christian Science, he realizes there is a law of God operating which will guide his footsteps into health and happiness and enable him to claim his heritage of dominion as a child of God.
Those who are gaining an understanding of Christian Science are learning how to discern between God's law and so-called material law. Through this discernment they are enabled to separate and identify that which is real and eternal from that which is unreal and temporal. This righteous reasoning replaces false, material sense with truth, human concepts with spiritual knowledge, and mortal illusions with eternal facts. Thus when consciousness is imbued with right thinking, we are equipped to give evidence, in human experience, of the operation of God's law in healing sickness and pain, in bringing freedom from sin, and in destroying the power of death.
