I wish to express my gratitude for Christian Science and for Mary Baker Eddy, who gave us this beautiful and practical religion. Many proofs of the healing and protecting power of Christian Science have come into our home through the application of its teachings as set forth in the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy.
Some time ago a tornado struck an area near our home. This storm, which was one of exceptional violence and destructive force, occurred just five days before our annual association meeting. In addition to our usual study, my mother and I had spent several evenings in special review of our class teaching so that our thought would be prepared to receive the message our teacher had for us.
On this particular evening I was working on my class notes, and my mother was reading a Christian Science lecture in a current issue of The Christian Science Monitor. When we had finished we sat down to our evening meal, entirely unaware of the approaching storm. It was not until an hour after it was over that we knew anything about it.
