"O Man greatly beloved, fear not: peace be unto thee, be strong, yea, be strong." These inspiring words of comfort came to the prophet in his vision of true manhood (Dan. 10:19). Only Daniel saw the vision, for he tells us (verse 7), "The men that were with me saw not the vision; but a great quaking fell upon them, so that they fled to hide themselves."
Daniel was beside the great river Hiddekel when he saw his vision. On page 588 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mary Baker Eddy gives the metaphysical interpretation of "Hiddekel" as, "Divine Science understood and acknowledged."
Thus it would appear that Daniel's uplifted consciousness apprehended that which is incomprehensible to the carnal mind. He glimpsed the divinely scientific sense of himself; he knew himself, as in reality he was, a "man greatly beloved."
