MEMBERSHIP WITH THE MOTHER CHURCH

From the March 1958 issue of The Christian Science Journal

One of the great privileges every Christian Scientist has is that of becoming a member of The Mother Church. The qualifications required for this membership are indicated in the application forms, specimens of which may be found on pages 114 to 119 of the Manual of The Mother Church by Mary Baker Eddy.

Each application form contains a statement which reads: "One who is not a member of any church, excepting a branch church of Christ, Scientist, who loves Christian Science, and reads understandingly the Bible, and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Reverend Mary Baker Eddy, and other works by this author, and who is Christianly qualified and can enter into full fellowship with the Tenets and Rules of The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Mass., is eligible to membership."

The love of Christian Science must inevitably result in one's desire to unite in the great purpose of The Mother Church by actively bringing the redemptive message of this Science to humanity. Though the edifice we call The Mother Church is geographically located in Boston, Massachusetts, the real church structure is spiritual and exists in the consciousness and hearts of its members. It is without geographical boundary. All of us are fellow members within The Mother Church. It is our Mother Church.
