I am happy to testify to the healing power of Christian Science. My first healing came when I was a young girl and had enlarged tonsils and adenoids. These were removed, but the operation was not successful. After a few days I became seriously ill, and my condition was diagnosed as pleurisy, which developed into pleural pneumonia and caused an abscess on the lung. I was taken to a hospital, and after several weeks the condition became alarming. The doctors, who were very kind to me, had stopped giving me medicine, since it had no effect upon me. Late one afternoon my family was informed that I would not live through the night.
That same evening my sister and my mother, who knew a little about the healing power of Christian Science, visited a practitioner and asked that I be given treatment. The treatment was given, and during the night I had the most peaceful sleep I had ever had in my life. I know now that the Christ-consciousness was being manifested, but at the time I did not understand what had happened.
The next morning I was able to sit up and eat, and in the afternoon the practitioner came to see me. I shall never forget the love and kindness this dear woman expressed. I was taken home the next week. The practitioner continued to give me Christian Science treatment, and in about two weeks I was completely healed.
