"I will mention the loving-kindnesses of the Lord, and the praises of the Lord, according to all that the Lord hath bestowed on us." These words from the Bible (Isa. 63:7) express my motive for giving the following account of my experience in Christian Science.
Because of a severe nervous condition, I relinquished my position as a teacher and moved to a large city in search of health. Here I accepted an invitation to attend a Sunday service held by a Christian Science Society and vehemently resented each portion of the lesson read from Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy. However, strangely enough, I returned the following Sunday and could not keep away thereafter. The change in attitude was due in a large measure to the love manifested by the members of the society, a love that surpassed anything I had ever before experienced.
Intense loneliness, owing to my being in a strange city and also to the passing on of my mother, as well as to failure to find relief from physicians to whom I had been directed, bent my pride, and I decided to visit a member of the Christian Science Society and ascertain some facts about this Science.
