WORTHY WORK AND ITS REWARD

From the February 1960 issue of The Christian Science Journal

SPEAKING of restoring harmony in his experience through prayer, a student of Christian Science sometimes says, "I did my work." What does he mean? What sort of work is it that wins the reward of harmony, health, strength, and peace of mind where before had been disease, frustration, fear, and limitations? It must indeed be worthy work, characterized as excellent, estimable, and valuable, to produce harmony where discord before held sway!

The Bible states (I Tim. 5:18), "The labourer is worthy of his reward." Christ Jesus said (Luke 10:2), "The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest."

The Master knew that our real work is to follow Christ, the true idea of God, which he abundantly expressed in his great work of healing and regeneration. Now as in the day of our Master worthy workers are needed to harvest the spiritual tendencies in the hearts of men.
