IT was a holiday, and flags were flying over the tops of many buildings in a large city. Waving back and forth in response to the prevailing winds, then dropping loosely by the flagpoles, and still again becoming active, they presented a beautiful sight. Certainly, there was nothing in the flags themselves which was producing the movement, nor did any one of them have the capacity to resist the invisible forces of the wind. The same power acting upon them all at the same time moved each individual flag.
In the Glossary of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, the definition of "wind" reads in part (p. 597), "That which indicates the might of omnipotence and the movements of God's spiritual government, encompassing all things." Mighty indeed are the winds of God, moving in perfect harmony every idea in the universe of Spirit. Impulsions of divine righteousness, justice, equality, and brotherly love are among the godly elements of the movements of Mind that sweep through human consciousness.
The power and blessings of true unity were manifested on the Day of Pentecost, when the disciples, chastened and humbled, were gathered together and experienced the visitation of the Holy Ghost, as promised by their Master, Christ Jesus.
