Although I was reared in Christian Science...

From the April 1960 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Although I was reared in Christian Science, I had to accept it for myself. As I grew toward maturity, this Science proved to be the only answer to my problems. In young womanhood, through the study of Science and Health, I was quickly healed of warts which covered both my hands. I was also able to apply this truth in the working out of problems of supply and unemployment.

During the bombing of London in the Second World War, I had the happy privilege of living in a house occupied by consecrated Christian Scientists; and though we were in a central part of London, we were completely protected. During this time I met my husband, who is also a Christian Scientist.

After the war we located in a small town in eastern Canada where there was no Christian Science church, and those who identified themselves with this religion were ostracized. My husband and I took the immediate step of applying for class instruction in Christian Science, and we were accepted. Without the benefit of this study, coupled with the yearly trips to Boston, Massachusetts, to attend our association, we could not have taken the stand of identifying ourselves with this religion and of relying entirely on Christian Science for our health and welfare.
