My mother was healed of blood poisoning when I was an infant. The doctors had given up hope for her recovery, and she had been consigned to the use of morphine for the relief of pain. Her healing was accomplished through reading Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy and the prayerful help of her sisters, who were pioneers in the Christian Science movement. In gratitude my mother took up the study of Science and joined The Mother Church.
From earliest childhood I had the privilege of its teachings. I can never be grateful enough for Sunday School instruction and for my companionship with a loving governess who was a consecrated student of Christian Science. She had been healed of tuberculosis of the spine through the teachings of this religion. I witnessed her healing when I was a little girl and was so impressed by it that it has always been a source of inspiration and courage to me.
I have received manifold blessings through the study and application of Science. The quick healing of so-called childhood diseases was accepted as a matter of course; experiences in the business world which were rugged at times were the cause of spiritual progress as I conscientiously put into practice the truths of my religion, and whenever a change of employment proved necessary, progress resulted.
