My first healing in Christian Science, which was that of a severe eye infection, came through the help of a practitioner. I had been having regular treatments from an eye specialist for about four months. By this time the condition had become so aggravated that I had to wear dark glasses in bright light. The specialist finally admitted defeat and recommended that I go to a general medical doctor.
This second doctor, after a thorough examination, was unable to find any cause for the ailment. As I paid him his fee he handed me a prescription, saying that I might as well try it. I took the prescription to a pharmacist; after he had filled it, I remarked to him that it seemed ridiculous to be taking these tablets when I did not even know what they were for. The pharmacist laughingly recommended my going to a Christian Science church.
I thought about his remark, and two days later, without having opened the box of tablets, I attended a Wednesday evening testimony meeting. What I heard there interested me so much that I turned to Christian Science for treatment, and after three visits to a practitioner I was healed.
