Christian Science has brought so much happiness and joy into my experience that I feel I must share some of it with others. I felt a lack of genuine friendship among the members of the church in which I was reared, and at school I felt the same thing. When I became interested in Christian Science, I turned wholeheartedly to the Bible and to Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy for the fulfillment of my desire for true friendship.
It was revealed to me that my need was to give instead of to get; to love instead of to worry about whether or not I was loved; to understand instead of to fret about not being understood. A complete reversal of my viewpoint took place, and I rejoiced in a larger concept of companionship, which was evidenced in many satisfying friendships.
My mother had a physical healing about this time. She had been told by a number of physicians that an operation would be necessary in connection with an intestinal difficulty. They also said that one operation might not cure her and that there might have to be further ones. Through the prayers of a Christian Science practitioner, she became normal about two months after she had turned wholly to God for healing. She gained back all the weight she had lost during her illness and never suffered again.
