I was introduced to Christian Science over thirty years ago by the chief of the department in which I worked, and I shall always be grateful to him and his family for the continued kindness and interest that were shown to me. I am grateful too for the purity of Mrs. Eddy's consciousness, which enabled her to receive the revelation of Christian Science, and for her selflessness in giving Science to the world.
My first healing was that of severe headaches and took place after reading the chapter entitled "Prayer" in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. These headaches had plagued me for many years. Through the truth which I read in those pages, my thought was so uplifted that I felt quite different and even looked in a mirror to see if my face had changed.
From childhood I grew up full of self-pity and suffering from self-condemnation and a feeling of inferiority. I was very easily hurt and inclined to self-justification. I am now humbly aware that none of these false traits of character, which have been eliminated, were ever really mine, because God made all His ideas perfect.
