"THE ZENITH OF DEMONSTRATION"

From the December 1961 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Many Christian Scientists, working and praying steadfastly through a seemingly long night of discord, have finally reached the summit of sweet assurance that all was well, even though to the material senses the evidence of healing had not appeared. Clinging to the uplifted consciousness of the perfection of God and of man, His spiritual image and likeness, these Christian Scientists have shortly thereafter seen the discordant physical symptoms dissolve and the harmonious facts of health become established.

A number of years ago the writer had such an experience. It occurred during a long and serious testing time. Although she had studied and prayed earnestly to overcome a physical difficulty, as she had been taught to do in Christian Science, she woke each morning with the material condition unchanged and with mortal mind whispering, "Things are not better; in fact, they are a little worse."

Discouragement and fear began to knock at the door. Then a passage from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy came to her thought. Turning to page 565, she read the passage: "After the stars sang together and all was primeval harmony, the material lie made war upon the spiritual idea; but this only impelled the idea to rise to the zenith of demonstration, destroying sin, sickness, and death, and to be caught up unto God,—to be found in its divine Principle."
