Testimonies of Healing

At the time of the birth of our second...

From the April 1961 issue of The Christian Science Journal

At the time of the birth of our second child, who passed on when only a few hours old, I was not a Christian Scientist. The attending physician felt it was necessary for me to have a blood transfusion. He took a blood test and then explained to me that should I give birth to another child, my life would be in danger. The baby would perhaps pass on at birth, and if it lived, it would be mentally or physically deranged.

Needless to say, I was filled with fear when six months later I discovered I was expecting another child. The doctor arranged an appointment with a specialist, who was to determine whether or not I should be operated on in order to save my life.

The appointment with the specialist was for one o'clock in the afternoon. He was very busy, and at three o'clock we were still waiting to see him. By this time I was so nervous I asked my husband to take me home. As we walked out of the doctor's office, my husband asked me what I was going to do. I answered by saying, "I guess I'll just have the baby." He said in a tone of voice that was so sure and confident that anyone would have believed him, "If you have it my way, it will be all right."
