Where can we find the moral courage to face up to our problems? We can find it in deep humility—the consciousness that God is the only Ego, that it is God who empowers us with His own qualities, and that the physical body and mortal personality are merely a false, passing sense of our eternal divine identities as sons of God.
When Moses was wavering before the greatness of the task before him, God reassured him with these words (Ex. 3: 14) "I AM THAT I AM: ... Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you." Christian Science teaches us that the one I AM, God, who is our true Ego, or Mind, knows no doubt, is not afraid, never was afraid, and cannot be afraid; He is forever knowing His own perfection and allness, has no discord, and needs no healing.
In the exalting humility of individually reflecting this divine Ego, we lose sight of corporeal selfhood, which doubts its ability to prove the truth, and we can claim as our very own the assurance of which our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, thus speaks in Science and Health (p. 514) "Moral courage is 'the lion of the tribe of Juda,' the king of the mental realm. Free and fearless it roams in the forest. Undisturbed it lies in the open field, or rests in 'green pastures, . . . beside the still waters.' "
