On the hills of Judea, watchful shepherds heard the message of God's angel announcing the birth of the infant Jesus. Then they listened to the heavenly host saying, "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men" (Luke 2:14). The light of a new dawn had come to the world, and they beheld it. The time had come for the corporeal Saviour to appear, the Way-shower, who would show the world the way to everlasting peace.
With diligence and meekness, Jesus revealed the invisible kingdom of Spirit, proved man's sonship with God, demonstrated the Father's will, and exemplified the power of Christ, Truth, that unclasps the merciless grip of mortality. Swiftly the Master carried out his mission. He said (Luke 17:24), "As the lightning, that lighteneth out of the one part under heaven, shineth unto the other part under heaven; so shall also the Son of man be in his day."
That brief day, that sublime ministry, broke the mesmeric dream of mortal life, which obscures reality. The Master's day started the world on its course of gaining the peace and good will of Christliness and leaving the evil ways of the so-called carnal mind.
