"RISING ABOVE THE FALSE"

From the December 1962 issue of The Christian Science Journal

In her book "Unity of Good," Mrs. Eddy writes: "Rising above the false, to the true evidence of Life, is the resurrection that takes hold of eternal Truth" (pp. 60, 61). Thus Mrs. Eddy sets forth necessary work to be done. In gaining a true sense of Life, God, one can see that the "rising above the false" sense of God necessitates a clearer understanding not only of Him but also of His creation. Mankind has dwelt all too long in ignorance of the true facts of life and existence.

The message of Christian Science is the "good tidings of great joy" (Luke 2:10), the angelic message proclaiming that the Christ is the eternal manifestation of God's being and is here today bringing to humanity the truth of Life—the truth that God, the Father-Mother, is the Mind of man and the Life of all that exists. Christian Science teaches that man is created in the image and likeness of God, perfect, spiritual.

The student of Christian Science is learning that "it is the purpose of divine Love to resurrect the understanding, and the kingdom of God, the reign of harmony already within us," as Mrs. Eddy states in "Miscellaneous Writings" (p. 154). It is the Christ, the divine manifestation of God, which comes to the human consciousness and awakens it to behold the dawn of spiritual light and truth. This is the dawn which marks the true resurrection.
