"If there were just more hours in the day!" This is a remark frequently heard. The fast tempo of modern life makes constant demands on people for more rapid decisions, for increased output, for making the most of available moments. The speed of communication and transportation has increased to such an extent that important decisions which may affect millions of people are relayed in a fraction of the time formerly required. The increased pressure in many fields of human endeavor threatens to deprive people of time for family enjoyment, cultural enrichment, self-development, and the worship of God.
The harried businessman, the hurried worker, the haggard housewife, the harassed student, and many others who work under a load of pressure can be helped through Christian Science to gain freedom from this burden. The study and application of the teachings of this Science show one how to experience each day as a period of harmonious unfoldment of good rather than as a period of worrisome pressure. Instead of relying on coffee breaks and tranquilizers to get him through the day, the student of Christian Science learns how to draw upon an inexhaustible wellspring of joyous inspiration, which has its source in God. From Him creative ideas unfold spontaneously.
How does the study of Science bring about such results? Let us investigate and see. No one in history ever shouldered heavier responsibilities than did the Master, Christ Jesus. With the demand upon him to demonstrate to the world the way of salvation, his brief career was characterized by ceaseless spiritual activity. At times, the Gospels indicate, Jesus spent whole nights in prayer and continued his healing and redemptive work when the crowds found him again at daybreak. And yet, despite the weight of the world upon him, the Master could say (Matt. 11:28),"come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."
