I want to express my gratitude for the many blessings which have come to me since Christian Science was presented to me several years ago. I am grateful that I was able to recognize it as the pearl of great price (see Matt. 13:46) and was ready and willing to sell my many false concepts and beliefs about God and man and buy it, that is, to earnestly study and apply its teachings. My progress seemed slow; but I persisted in my desire to know more of Truth and to make it practical in my daily living. Writing of the Christian disciple, Mrs. Eddy says (Science and Health, p. 21), "If honest, he will be in earnest from the start, and gain a little each day in the right direction, till at last he finishes his course with joy."
I am humbly grateful for the many proofs which I have had of the healing power of Truth. Some of the conditions that were overcome are these: migraine, a sprained ankle, influenza, neuritis, colds, which I used to have frequently, and severe burns, which covered my face, head, and chest and which were healed within two weeks. It is difficult to find words to express my heartfelt gratitude for the consecrated practitioners who helped me to see the unreality of these discords and to gain a clearer concept of God and His creation, including my true selfhood.
More recently I was healed of an abscess that appeared at my waistline. This healing was brought about through turning wholeheartedly to God. Even though I had been prayerfully declaring spiritual truths from the time it appeared, the abscess grew more painful and increased in size. This continued for about a week, during which I was making an earnest endeavor to purify my thought and to apply the truth as it is taught in Christian Science.
