Several years ago I was suffering simultaneously from three different forms of physical distress. They were hemorrhages resulting from colonitis, an infected swelling of the legs, and a painful spinal condition. Every day I studied the Bible and Mrs. Eddy's writings and prayed, affirming spiritual truths which I was learning in Christian Science.
A more advanced student of Science told me that evil in any form, including disease, might be caused by the malicious thoughts of others, if these thoughts were not guarded against. She also gave me a list from Mrs. Eddy's writings of related references, which she recommended I read. At first I was quite disdainful and gave little heed to what she said. Later, however, it suddenly occurred to me that there was a person who had told me she felt very angry and bitter toward me for having taken up the study of Christian Science.
Then eagerly I began to read the references, and my heart swelled with tenderness and love for this one as for a few hours I read and prayed. When interrupted by someone's calling, I jumped up, and did so effortlessly. The spinal trouble was gone. The pain in my legs also had vanished. I was free! That night I slept. The colonitis hemorrhages no longer continued. I was healed of all three conditions, all though it took a while for my legs to resume their normal appearance.
