From the beginning of Scriptural history a rising line of thought is evident as individuals turned from the material sense of life and sought the spiritual, thereby winning the blessing of God. Because of their loyalty to the pure glimpses they caught of the one invisible God, their progeny were multiplied and their possessions increased. They were losing sight of matter, which is limited thinking, or false sense, and becoming conscious of Spirit, God, whose infinitude is manifested by every glimpse of good.
Noah, Abram, Isaac, and Jacob followed the line of submission to the presence and power of Spirit, and they received God's benediction. Moses and the wandering Israelites, David and the tribe of Judah, were blessed as they acknowledged the authority of the one invisible Deity.
The rising line of thought finally reached the state of purification that brought forth the Virgin Mary, to whom the angel Gabriel said (Luke 1:28), "Blessed art thou among women." Then the zenith of grace was attained in the coming of Christ Jesus, the Messiah, who received the blessings of God in marvelous abundance.
