Testimonies of Healing

From the July 1963 issue of The Christian Science Journal

It is indeed a joy to glorify God in the spirit of overflowing gratitude and to glorify Him in relating how Christian Science has brought health and harmony to a body which had been laid low by disease.

Twelve years ago, when a mobile X-ray unit was in our town, I was X-rayed and later told that I had active tuberculosis in one lung. A specialist was consulted, and the results of further X rays and other tests were declared to be positive. Because there was no available space in a local sanatorium, I was ordered to remain in bed and was kept under close surveillance. X-ray pictures were taken every two weeks by our local board of health.

After several months of this treatment, the doctor announced that I would have to be taken to a hospital and then be transferred, when there was space, to a sanatorium, where I would have to remain for two or three years because I had become steadily worse. Both lungs were now affected. I knew what this meant from the medical standpoint because of experience as a medical nurse before my marriage. I had also witnessed the effects of this disease in my family. One brother had passed on in a sanatorium and another was in a sanatorium at the time.
