From childhood I always sought for a God that I could understand. The explanations given to me by my parents and teachers did not satisfy me, and it was not till I grew up that I heard of Christian Science through an aunt who had begun to study it. I remember saying to myself as I listened to her explaining it to my mother, "This is the God I have been seeking—a God I can understand."
This was over forty years ago, and it would be quite impossible in a testimony to tell what Christian Science has done for me and my family in that time. The practice of it has been the rock on which our family life has been built. Jesus said (Matt. 7:24, 25), "Whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: and the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock."
There have been many healings of sickness, and we have had wonderful protection from contagion. Indeed my four children never had an infectious disease which would have kept them away from school. Business problems have been solved, supply has been forthcoming, and homes have been found. During the Second World War my sons were protected, and one who was a prisoner of war for nearly four years returned home sound in mind and body.
