OVERCOMING MENTAL DEPRESSION

From the August 1964 issue of The Christian Science Journal

"WHEN men are cast down," said Eliphaz in the book of Job (22: 29), "then thou shalt say, There is lifting up." Thus Christian Science speaks to the lonely and depressed heart. By educating human consciousness with the facts of spiritual being, it promises a lifting up of thought.

In Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, and throughout her other writings, these facts are clearly stated. They are the truth of what Christ Jesus always referred to as the kingdom of God. To the extent that the human mind, through inspiration, revelation, and reason, accepts these facts, the invisible universe of Spirit is recognized as the reality of being and the material universe, the unreality.

Prayerful study of Mrs. Eddy's writings in conjunction with the Bible and accompanied by a sincere desire to imbibe the spirit of Science, and to practice its teachings, will lift thought far above outgrown human beliefs. In this elevation of thought will be found protection from the mesmerism of materiality.
