IN various fields of human endeavor mankind have made great progress. Especially is this so at the present time when a large number of individuals are recognizing their ability to rise above the limits of earthbound conceptions and time-honored but restrictive beliefs are being forsaken. Mankind's progress has resulted in the lessening of many undesirable and discordant human conditions.
To the forefront of the goals which men seek to attain is undoubtedly that of the destruction of disease. That the abolition of disease from human experience would be a great blessing to humanity everyone would agree. It is only on the methods by which this may be achieved that opinions differ.
Because of a sincere desire to rid the world of disease, men devote much time and energy to the study of disease with the object of discovering means whereby it may be prevented or cured. This has been true throughout many centuries. These efforts to find a material cure for disease, however, have not resulted in mankind's redemption from disease. If freedom from disease is not to be obtained through the investigation of what are generally termed the characteristics of disease, where is it to be obtained?
