A LEADING idea in the revelation of Christian Science is that there is but one Christ. This Christ is the divine ideal, the Truth, which does not come and go but is eternally present to be discerned and revered and expressed. Wherever the divine nature is manifested in love or truthfulness, justice, purity, or mercy, there we see Christ, Truth, shining through the haze of changing material life and sensations and giving us a glimpse of heaven. The least spiritual impulse of thought means that Christ is acting in human consciousness, waking it from the mortal dream of life apart from God. Christ belongs to every age to heal the sick and sinful. Its power is never absent.
Jesus represented the ideal Truth perfectly. He thus merited the title, Christ, and is known throughout Christendom as Christ Jesus, the Messiah. No other can take this title or call himself Christ with impunity. Sacrilege reacts upon itself. However, each of us must eventually embody the ideal Truth, because each in his real being is God's son, His likeness, forever fulfilling His ideal.
As he was about to leave the world he came to save, Jesus petitioned God in behalf of his followers (John 17:21), "That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us." The Master knew the oneness of Deity's creation.
