AN industrial revolution is well under way that cannot help but alter our traditional concepts of employment. All intelligent leaders of labor and management, as well as government officials, have this problem very much at heart. Christian Scientists are not unmindful of what this situation may mean to those who seek jobs, because they know that Christian Science can help to solve this problem by bringing to human thought an understanding of the relationship which exists between the human and the divine economy.
Mrs. Eddy states in "Miscellaneous Writings" (p. 100), "The spiritual monitor understood is coincidence of the divine with the human, the acme of Christian Science." A striking example of this coincidence is seen in Christ Jesus' feeding five thousand people with five loaves and two fishes (see John 6:5-13). But without some understanding of what was actually involved in this demonstration, we usually brush it aside as a miracle, and its value in the field of economics is lost sight of.
In the divine economy everything must be in perfect balance forever. In the entire spiritual universe there is never the slightest imbalance between supply and demand. The Preacher declared (Eccl. 3:14), "Whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it." One may gain an appreciation of what this means only through some measure of spiritualization of thought.
