MANY times in our human experience, when we have become burdened, grieved, or downcast, someone has perhaps come to our aid. If this individual not only understood the difficulties confronting us but also knew through Christian Science the comforting, assuring presence and power of divine Love, he has been able to share with us the wonderful Christly message of liberation from false beliefs.
Christ Jesus plainly implied that his mission was to reveal the healing power of the Christ, Truth, when he stood in the synagogue in Nazareth and read from the book of Isaiah (Luke 4:18), "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised."
In Science and Health, Mrs. Eddy throws added light upon these words where she writes (p. 224), "The power of God brings deliverance to the captive." And she continues with this healing assurance: "No power can withstand divine Love." It is the power of divine Love which compels the annihilation of false belief of whatever name or nature.
