When I was driving one evening on a mountainous road, the wheels of my car ran into soft dirt left on the road after excavation work. To avoid a fire hydrant, I turned the wheels with great force, causing the car to cross the road and plunge two hundred and sixty-five feet almost straight down the mountainside.
When I felt the car leave the road, I heard myself saying with conviction, "God is my Life, and it cannot be taken from me." The remainder of the way down was utilized with audible declarations to the effect that error cannot take form in man's experience, because, as we read in the first chapter of Genesis, it was through God's Word that form appeared. There was a remarkable absence of fear throughout this entire experience.
I was suddenly aware that the car had turned completely around but had not turned over, and had settled down on a clump of dry brush. I got out of the car immediately because it was pitch dark and quite impossible to see if the car was secure. I found myself standing in brush almost up to my waist. Loose shale prevented me from climbing out of the canyon, hard as I tried.
