Church in Action

Keeping in touch

From the September 1966 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The Mother Church likes to keep in touch. If a member has not been heard from for some years, he is likely to find in his mailbox a letter of loving concern from the office of the Clerk. An officer in the Armed Forces received one at the very time he was taking faltering steps back toward the teachings of Christian Science, which he had rejected for many years. He wrote: "My goals had become materialistic to the point where I had committed almost every sin in the book, and my marriage was a hair's breadth from destruction. It became clear that only through Science would I have the courage to live as I should live. [Now] I am trying, and your letter of ... encouragement came at a time of real human need. Thank you for the reminder that God never forgets His children."
