Christian Science teaches the allness of Spirit and the nothingness of matter. Through the pure metaphysics of divine Science the metaphysician learns how to distinguish between fact and fiction and how to handle mental malpractice, or evil thought transference. Mrs. Eddy writes: "All mental malpractice arises from ignorance or malice aforethought. It is the injurious action of one mortal mind controlling another from wrong motives, and it is practised either with a mistaken or a wicked purpose."Science and Health, p. 451; The Christian Scientist learns that a knowledge of divine Science exposes the machinations of mortal mind, or animal magnetism, and destroys them.
Jesus was always able to denounce and dispose of evil in any form because of his sinless nature and Christly understanding. To divine Mind there has never been less than the allness of God, but the human consciousness has not fully accepted this truth, and so it has to be educated through dissolving the false sense of self and learning of man's true nature. When an elevated state of consciousness is reached, the human sense picture is replaced by the facts of divine Mind. To the spiritual consciousness the perfect ideas of Soul are real and tangible, and the material senses lose their seeming identity and power to accuse or obstruct.
Today we are hearing on every side stories of crime and violence. It is easy to become mesmerized and to be influenced to accept these suggestions of an evil force or power unless we cease to judge according to sense testimony and awaken to the facts of divine being. The writer had occasion to make use of metaphysics by exchanging false accusations for the evidence of Spirit. Thereby crime that had tried to enter her experience was arrested.
