Claiming and Maintaining Our Maturity

Many people consider maturity as the period when they are at the zenith of their human experience. This maturity may have been achieved merely by the passage of time, although it may be characterized by stability of moral and intellectual qualities. But once the zenith has been reached, people believe that the inevitable sequel is decline, retaining only the memory of "I remember when. . . ."

How wonderful it is to learn that this is not the true pattern of man's life! Christian Science reveals to humanity that man's real existence is eternal, without beginning or end, that man coexists with his Maker and therefore passes through no states and stages of development from immaturity to maturity. As Mrs. Eddy so aptly says: "The radiant sun of virtue and truth coexists with being. Manhood is its eternal noon, undimmed by a declining sun."Science and Health, p. 246;

In the first chapter of Genesis we have the inspired record of creation. Here man is declared to be formed by God, the infinite One, as His image and likeness, His constant reflection. Man is given dominion; he is blessed; and the entire creation is pronounced very good. Then we read, "Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them."Gen. 2:1;
