Testimonies of Healing

At an establishment where I was employed...

From the March 1968 issue of The Christian Science Journal

At an establishment where I was employed there was a man who had only one leg. He had sustained an injury to the other leg, and it had been amputated after gangrene had set in. I performed not only my own work but also much of his in order to help him hold his position. Day after day this fellow worker repeated the details of the accident and urged me to be careful lest I have a similar experience.

One day en route to work, I injured my own leg in an accident. The leg began to swell, and the condition became so aggravated that it became difficult for me to stand. The manager of the business was away on a vacation and had left me in charge. I continued to work until the manager's return. By this time the leg had assumed what then seemed a frightening appearance.

I was able to take a bus twenty miles to the home of a practitioner, where I remained three weeks. Each day we prayed, sang hymns, and talked and studied about our Father-Mother God's loving, tender care for His children. It was pointed out to me how necessary it is for us always to reject error's claims about man at the outset and to replace them with thoughts of the perfection of the only real man, the man of God's creation.
