Keep It Simple

From the December 1969 issue of The Christian Science Journal

"Keep it simple" is a motto all Christian Scientists may well heed. Why? Because the truth is simple and the truth is our goal. Everyone really desires to know the truth, especially when he realizes that the truth makes and keeps him free.

Some of the definitions Webster's dictionary gives for the adjective "simple" are "uninvolved, hence, not hard to understand; straightforward; plain, unadorned." An example Webster selects to illustrate its import—"the simple truth"—is most appropriate.

The Christian Science religion follows the words and works of Christ Jesus, both Of which exemplify the highest form of simplicity. He gave his message so clearly and positively that it has remained, in the simple form in which his followers remembered it, for nearly 2,000 years.
