Surely in God's universe, and there is no other, the law of God prevails. It is self enforcing. It is only logical that the creator must have His own way in His own universe. "Every day," Mrs. Eddy writes, "makes its demands upon us for higher proofs rather than professions of Christian power."Science and Health, p. 233;Then, after enlarging on what she means by "proofs," she continues, "This is an element of progress, and progress is the law of God, whose law demands of us only what we can certainly fulfil."
"Progress is the law of God." What an encouraging statement! Every individual is eager to progress, to increase his abilities and capabilities. How supporting to realize that true ambition has God's law behind it, that persistent effort, spiritually motivated and rightly directed, will achieve for us all good! Mrs. Eddy writes, "Indeed, right is the only real potency; and the only true ambition is to serve God and to help the race."Message to The Mother Church for 1902, p. 3; With such ambition our advancement must be a joyous, harmonious, and happy experience. Nothing in our onward march is more powerful and compelling than love.
