I can hardly find adequate words to express my deep gratitude for Christian Science. For me, it is truly the central interest in my life. I thank God, who has given this inestimable gift, this wonderful teaching, to mankind.
My first healing in Christian Science took place many years ago in Switzerland. I had had an operation for appendicitis, and after the operation I was much worse than before. I could not stand upright, and one leg was a few inches shorter than the other. I was in great despair because the doctor said I must have another operation. That was for me like a sentence of death, and I thought of suicide at the earliest opportunity. At this dark moment a friend visited me and asked if I was willing to try Christian Science. Although I knew nothing about it, I was ready for any help. She left me with the declaration that she would ask a Christian Science practitioner to pray for me.
The next morning, to my great surprise, I was able to rise without help, to walk without canes, and to stand upright on both my legs.
