Testimonies of Healing

We had been invited, among others, to...

From the April 1969 issue of The Christian Science Journal

We had been invited, among others, to the home of friends for dinner after attending the Thanksgiving Day service in a Church of Christ, Scientist. While our children were playing with those of our hosts in an upstairs room, an urgent cry summoned me. Our son had injured his head. The injury was so alarming that it seemed I could not think constructively. By request another member of the group, a seasoned student of Christian Science, treated him. Our host arrived on the scene also and met the immediate human need.

It seemed wise for me to take my thoughts, literally and figuratively, into another room. In a very few minutes I was free of the great fear which had held me, and I returned to the youngster just as our host exclaimed, "I can't even see it!" Indeed, the wound had closed so beautifully that it was barely perceptible. The child was instructed to remember that God is everywhere, and we all took our places at the dinner table.

As we said our good-byes that evening, I again expressed gratitude to the dear one who had treated the child. It was firmly impressed upon me that nothing had happened to the boy's true identity as God's child. I was grateful for this later that night when the child awoke in much pain. We declared spiritual facts which we both understood to be true, and in a short time he stated he was ready to sleep.
