Through their Reading Room it is possible for First Church of Christ, Scientist, Brussels, to bless people of many nations.
Just as the librarian was arranging a display of three books in the Russian language (Science and Health, Retrospection and Introspection, and Rudimental Divine Science, all by Mrs. Eddy), a man who seemed in need of help stopped and began to read. The librarian withdrew from the window so he could read undisturbed. Soon he entered and asked for some literature in Russian. He spoke in French but with a strong Russian accent. "When I answered him in Russian, his joy was very touching," the librarian wrote. The man explained that he had stopped at other times, and today had taken a long bus ride to see what message the window would hold. He was surprised to see the Russian translations, and thanked the librarian for "putting the display there for him."
A young African from Rwanda, attending the nearby University of Brussels, lingered in front of the window, then came in to buy a Bible. The librarian took the opportunity to offer him one of the Christian Science periodicals. Several months later he returned to ask how much Science and Health would cost. Since he didn't seem to have the money, he borrowed a copy from the lending library. Eventually he bought his own copy, and has attended church services several times. This Reading Room has also had several visits from a Romanian who wanted Christian Science literature for a relative and friends.
