The Case for Spiritual Healing

From the June 1969 issue of The Christian Science Journal

God's promises to heal every form of malady, as well as sin, are numerous in the Bible. They may be found in many of the books from Genesis to Revelation. "I am the Lord that healeth thee."Ex. 15:26; "I will take sickness away from the midst of thee."23:25; "I will restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds, saith the Lord."Jer. 30:17; These are but a few.

In spite of the fact that these promises are many, unequivocal, and valid, few Bible students seem aware of their existence. They are scattered and so buried in the text that it requires study to find them. Theologians generally either ignore, them or, failing that, attempt to rationalize. Regardless of human efforts to explain them away, the promises exist and are laden with blessings for suffering humanity.

These blessings include freedom from fear, want, sickness, accident, sin, and from the effects of evil of every kind. The blind are to see, the lame to walk, the deaf to hear, the weak to be strengthened. Health is to be restored, youth preserved, longevity increased, sin forgiven after it is forsaken, tears wiped away, and death itself overcome and proved unreal.
