On Healing Deviational Sin

From the June 1969 issue of The Christian Science Journal

In many instances of deviation in an adult, it may appear that there was some imbalance in his thinking when he was a child, perhaps as a result of his disillusionment with one of his human parents or because he grew up in a lopsided, broken home. In attempting to overcome the bad effects of this imbalance some have used human techniques to compensate for the masculine or the feminine attributes that have seemed to be missing from the home. But the spiritual solution goes deeper. In accepting the ever-present, all-harmonious Father-Mother God as the only parent, whose love never wanes, the deviate will learn that in Christian Science he can be born again, be reborn as God's child into the reality of his spiritual being and pure desire.

Devoting himself to this honest endeavor, he finds that the understanding of the fatherhood and motherhood of God and the spiritual nature of man, adjusts the balance for him. Frustration and friction begin to disappear from his life, and he begins to have a more normal experience.

Mrs. Eddy writes, "Christian Science refutes everything that is not a postulate of the divine Principle, God."Miscellaneous Writings, p. 364; Likewise, as one who desires the blessing of healing above all else embraces Christian Science for the freedom it promises to bring him, he will claim his right to answer emphatically No to the aggressiveness or persuasiveness of evil and enthusiastically answer Yes to the irresistibility of good.
