We need never doubt the ability to see and know good, the ability to demonstrate God-given dominion over the limiting beliefs of the carnal mind, or materiality. If our first steps in rising above material beliefs seem faltering and slow, we may recall the experience of Peter as recorded in the Gospel of Matthew. Christ Jesus' disciples were in their ship, which was buffeted by the waves, when Jesus came to them, walking on the lake. The men were fearful, but the Master assured them he was not a spirit.
Peter requested, "Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water."Matt. 14:28; Jesus then told him to come. "When Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?"
Peter began to doubt, and as he doubted, fear encompassed him and he began to sink. Yet Peter's cry to the Master brought forth an immediate response. The Master stretched forth his hand and lifted him up. The Master's subsequent question, "Wherefore didst thou doubt?" was Peter's to answer. It is also ours to answer when doubt or fear would attempt to encompass us.
