I should like to express my gratitude for the many healings I have experienced since taking up the study of Christian Science about sixteen years ago. I turned to this religion when several doctors and a specialist had failed to give me other than temporary relief for a condition named by the specialist as pernicious anemia.
This healing took a number of years to accomplish, but finally with the help of a Christian Science practitioner and many hours of study myself I was able to lift my thinking completely away from the material picture into the realm of Spirit and so overcome all sense of fear. This came at a time when, for about an hour every night, I was having frightening turns when I would almost lose consciousness. Gradually the severity of these attacks lessened until one day, driving home in the peak hour traffic, I had a severe attack and was unable to go any further. I managed to contact the practitioner, and a man passing by kindly drove me home.
My husband, who is not a Christian Scientist, immediately called a doctor and took me to his office. I thanked him kindly but told him I was a Christian Scientist and that I did not want any medical help. He respected my wishes, and, after taking a cardiograph of my heart, said I must expect a recurrence of this experience unless I resorted to medical means for help. I thanked him but declined and decided to rely completely on Christian Science for my healing. As I walked out of the surgery, I felt so uplifted that I knew I was healed, although my heart was still beating very unnaturally. That night I had my first peaceful sleep for many a long month, and I have not had any return of this condition. This healing took place about nine years ago and has been permanent.
