Love—The Incentive for Testimonies

From the August 1969 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Mrs. Eddy writes, "Love for God and man is the true incentive in both healing and teaching."Science and Health, p. 454 Love for God motivates us to express Him and strive to demonstrate more of His wisdom and power. Love for man inspires us to see ourselves and others as divine Mind's ideas, perfect and harmonious. It enables us to look beyond the material picture of man as limited and mortal and see him as God has created him, spiritual, sinless, loving, and lovable.

Then, isn't love the true incentive in our testimonies of Christian Science healing? Isn't love for God our reason for taking a public stand to express our gratitude for His omnipotence and goodness? And doesn't our love for man inspire us to want to give a testimony that will help another?

Many people have been blessed by testimonies heard in Wednesday meetings in Churches of Christ, Scientist, or read in the Christian Science periodicals. How grateful we can be that Mrs. Eddy provided for these avenues of public gratitude!
